Service Day

Today my school had our 1st annual Service Day. I was in the "green" group. I was one of the two leaders (we were the only middle schoolers) and I was the only 7th grader. Overall, we had 17 boys and  girls, including me. First, we stayed at the school and made cards for solders. Including other groups, we made around 150 cards. That's 150 solders who can smile and know that they are loved. Next, we walked to the Equestrian park and scraped peeling paint of bleachers. It was tiring, but fun. One boy accidentally cut his finger. Luckily, I had thought to bring my first aid kit that day.  I'm so proud of my group for working so hard. Even though we did have some trouble moments, they made a BIG difference in our community. Including all the other projects (beautifying our school, road-home, etc.), we helped over 10,000 people. You know, I think we can all do some kind of service, big or small. After all, as Kid President says, "Little people can do big things." Do something for your community. It can be from picking up a piece of trash to replacing all the playground parts with graffiti on them. Ok, it doesn't have to be THAT big! But even a smile to someone can make a big difference.

Service~ Doing something for others, without  getting something out of it (usually).
